Project title: EneMY

Genre: Philosophical parable, mystery thriller, comedy

Format: 40 х 45 min

Country: Ukraine

Countries for co-production: Eastern Europe and former Soviet territories

Synopsys: This film is been created especially for those who has no memory of socialism but feel its effect. Main hero is a man of solid character. He is active, to some extent, conscious, we can say, hardworking. Born in the right time, having enough experience, member of the right party, he has some achievements. At the same time his soul is divided into two rather unequal parts. His alternate identity is somebody he hates, he is jealous and afraid of. That’s because that another personality is an artist having "alien" worldview, believing strange ideals. That person is neither a builder of the "bright future", nor a representative of "progressive humanity", nor a fighter against "world reaction". He does not fit the slender ranks of "advanced" society with its "progressive" culture and "scientific" ideology. The main character wants to get rid of his alternate identity. The question is how to do it and stay alive? All answers may be found in the "fundamental documents", particularly, in the materials of the last Congress of “our dearest” Party.

The aim of the project is to make sure the classic literature stays relevant in today’s informationally crowded world. At the core of the project is cross-pollination of two different media: graphic animation and literary prose. The idea is to bring the famous stories to life by blending together the timeless written word and the creativity and visual imagery of illustrators. We have carefully selected the greatest classics of world literature and will marry them to the world of contemporary animation. From this strange encounter and an untapped creative resource comes new versions of the famous timeless stories. Structurally the episodes would consist of a narrator introducing a particular book and reading excerpts from it and animation part, set against the voice-over by the narrator and the original score.

Project title: Leningrad Symphony

Genre: Docudrama

Format: 1 x 90 min

Country: Germany

Countries for co-production: Eastern European Countries

Synopsys: Leningrad in the winter of 1942: a city of three million people facing death by starvation. The siege lasted a staggering 872 days. One of the forces that helped to keep the city’s survivors alive was Leningrad’s radio station, broadcasting poetry and live music. It was during the darkest days of the siege, in March 1942, that the emaciated conductor of the city’s radio orchestra, Eliasberg, was given a seemingly impossible assignment: surrounded by hunger, cold and death he was to rehearse Shostakovich’s new 7th Symphony. The symphony would have to be performed by the few surviving members of his radio orchestra, some of them too weak to lift their instruments. Against all odds, Eliasberg and a handful of courageous musicians and radio producers would manage the impossible. On 9 August 1942 the war was interrupted by the stirring sounds of the “Leningrad Symphony”, broadcast to the city’s homes and in the streets, and all the ways to the Soviet and German trenches.
